The worldwide distribution of severity dental caries has changed in recent years with a marked falling incidence of dental caries in many developed countries. This is mainly due to the wide spread use of fluorides. In developing countries, there is rise in dental caries, paralleling their rise in sugar consumption. However, the irony is in some developing countries, Dental caries occurs in affluent communities with good basic nutrition, while it is rare in communities with the lowest nutritional standards.
