This presentation will attempt to upset the traditional way of looking at the American Indian relationships with the federal government in this period in ways which are at odds with previous interpretation of these relationships. This book is a product of a doctoral dissertation that covers the hundred years in the title giving a description of a necessarily generalized presentation as introduction into the relationship of the American tribes in the hundred year period encompassing a number of different areas of the progression of the American government in a very general and broad way, necessarily so to the broad topics covered, actual relationships of the various Indian tribes subject to federal regulations in this period. Comprehensive and adequately researched and to the point, my attempt to clarify many issues past historians have neglected in the relationships of the American government and American Indians in a broad way. Hopefully this book will clarify many issues the American Indian tribes had within the context of government interference within the American Indian lives.
