Owen Jones, Autore Best-Selling di Amazon di Barry, in Scozia, ha vissuto in diversi paesi e viaggiato in molti altri. Mentre studiava il russo nell`URSS degli anni 70 ha frequentato alcune spie regolarmente. Dopo l`università, nel Suriname, fu coinvolto nel colpo di stato del 1982, con l`accuse di essere un mercenario. Più tardi, mentre era direttore della compagnia, si unì all`equipaggio di quattro persone come rematore di galea per navigare, da Barry a Gibilterra, su uno yacht di cemento fatto in casa durante la Desert Storm.Nel viaggio, lo yacht fu quasi speronato da una petroliera russa e da una portaerei americana, la Atlantic Challenger. Dal 2004 vive principalmente tra Regno Unito, Spagna e Tailandia. Attualmente conduce una vita un po` più tranquilla nel remoto villaggio agricolo di sua moglie nel nord del paese, scrivendo, modificando e aumentando il numero di traduzioni e narrazioni dei suoi romanzi.
