The examination and review of the Michel Indian Band Treaty Records is in regards to the late Mrs. Mary Finley-Callihoo, the wife of Thomas Calihoo. Thomas Calihoo was the brother of Chief Michel Calihoo who signed the Treaty No. 6. for the Michel Band Indians in Canada to have a Tribal Reserve pursuant to the Indian Treaty No. 6 and the Dominion Lands Act. Mary Finley-Calihoo and her children can also be located on the Metis Scripts in Canada. Research confirms Mary's father and mother left the Jasper House in Canada because of the Hudson Bay Fur Trade according to the 1905 BIA Federal Testimonies which affirmed Mary's relatives as Chippewa Cree, Mary Finley-Calihoo also had blood 21 siblings and relatives in Montana on several of the tribal reservations; specifically, on the Flathead CSKT Reservation, Chippewa Cree (Rocky Boy). Little Shell Chippewa, Colville Reservation in Washington, and also in North Dakota on the reservation of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. Following the Michel Indian Band disenfranchisement in Canada, some tribal citizens, like Mary Finley-Calihoo, Chippewa Cree, received land after her husband, Thomas Calihoo's death and were later granted parcels of land by the federal government from the former tribal reserve and other members moved to various locations in Alberta, Jasper, Edmonton, Canada and elsewhere for survial. Here, the examination and the review of the Alberta Canada Homestead Records affirms the history Mary Angelique Finley (Finlay)-Calihoo who was a Chippewa Cree Indian born circa between 1815-1830s at the Jasper House and was married to Chief Michel Calihoo's brother, Thomas Calihoo in the Northwest Territories, Canada and had children who married citizens of the Michel Band of Indians - Michel First Nation.
