Dr. Lorena Newson, holds over 15 years of Higher Education experience as an academic administrator and faculty member. Her professional and academic experience spans from public to private 2 & 4 year colleges and universities. Dr. Newson holds a Bachelors of Science Degree from Loyola Marymount University, a Master's degree from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, and a Doctorate degree from the University of Southern California (USC). She currently serves as the Dean of Guided Pathways and Professional Learning at Victor Valley College (VVC) and works diligently every day to create and cultivate thriving communities. Dr. Newson is connected to several initiatives focused on wealth generation and community building for underrepresented communities of color. Her primary area of focus is closing the wealth gap for historically marginalized and disenfranchised communities.
