Today, math is not perceived as a collection of the abstract concepts and skills necessary to be learned just like in the past; but as "the information that occurs with the process of problem solving and interpretation that is based on the modeling of the reality and again, the skills that develops within this process". In accordance with this understanding, the purpose of teaching math has become to provide mathematical aptitude and form the skill of being able to use math in necessary conditions conveniently. The number of the studies regarding the concept of using math at higher education level is very little. Starting from this; in the current study, it has been tried to observe how the students of the department of math in the faculty of science and literature use the pure math they learn in the real life conditions by studying together with them. In addition; within the scope of the study, the assessment of the skills in using math has been provided by considering them together with the variables of class level, gender and academic achievement.
