Biblically illiterate Andrew Hamilton was born into the Catholic faith, baptised, communion, confession, confirmed but In 1992, walked into a little Bible teaching church in Las Vegas and was shocked when the Pastor said, "Take out your Bibles and turn to the book of...". On the third Sunday visit to that little church, he asked the Lord Jesus to save him and forgive him of his sin. His life was radically changed with a new set of desires and a worldview he never had before. Andrew immediately signed up for an Inductive Bible Study Seminar which was to be held at the church and bought a new Bible. Knowing nothing of English translations he unintentionally settled on the New King James version and his journey with the Bible as a believer was officially underway. The critical need of Bible literacy Within a few months of becoming a Christian Andrew was assaulted with a flood of doubt after doubt about the deity of Christ and the trustworthiness of the Bible. Through the Holy Scriptures, the Holy Spirit helped to lay those doubts to rest by illuminating Psalm 45:6 and Hebrews 1:8. It was God who came to his rescue by using His word the Bible to defeat these doubts and strengthen his fledgling faith. Biblically literate By necessity, Andrew came to know the essentials of the Bible quickly: its background, structure, reliability, purpose, authority and the necessity to study and apply it in his life. Over the course of the 30+ years which followed, he has led Bible studies, taught Sunday School and Bible Institute classes on the Bible. Since 2004, Andrew has written and spoken on the trustworthiness and authority of God's word on the Truth For Saints podcast and on his website truthforsaints.com. This book is a collection of those 7 essentials that most greatly increased his Bible literacy which resulted in a more effective and clearer reading, interpreting and applying of its truths to daily life. It is Andrew's hope and prayer that the reader finds this book to be a helpful resource in his own daily walk with Christ through the transforming power of His word: the Bible.
