FREDERICK LUIS ALDAMA nació en la Ciudad de México. Su madre, de origen guatemalteco e irlandés-americano, era de Los Ángeles, y su padre era mexicano de la Ciudad de México. Cuando era niño, su mamá se mudó con la familia a California. Hoy en día, es conocido como el Profesor Latinx y es un autor y editor galardonado con más de 50 libros, incluyendo recientemente el cómic Pyroclast, las novelas gráficas juveniles Through Fences y Labyrinths Borne, así como los libros infantiles The Adventures of Chupacabra Charlie y Con Papá / With Papá. Es el director del Latinx Pop Lab, editor de la Latinx Pop Magazine y ocupa la "Jacob & Frances Sanger Mossiker Chair in the Humanities" en la Universidad de Texas, Austin.
