England is dancing to the sound of fiddle, fife and drum as the 1990's Irish theme pub explosion takes the country by storm. Suddenly on every street corner, failing pubs are being re-branded with shamrocks and shillelaghs into caricatures of the good auld Irish boozer and Birmingham is no exception. The Brummie Irish are stepping out to the gaelic reels and jigs spilling from every pub doorway but all is not what it seems. Somewhere beneath the shamrock's shadow, the Birmingham I.R.A are calling the tune. The cash cow known as 'The Cause' is dying on its feet because of the ever-present threat of peace in the six counties of Northern Ireland, leaving I.R.A. members without the lucrative income they've become accustomed to. Now the ex-paramilitaries turn their attention to grabbing as much cash as possible before the whole republican movement gets snubbed out by peace. Davey Keogh works the music circuit, playing Irish songs and tunes to the ever-growing crowds, packing the city's theme pubs to the rafters. After a chance meeting with a mysterious blonde at one of his gigs, the hapless musician is drawn into Birmingham's shadowy underworld, where Godfather gangsters rule like Kings, Irish assassins stalk the guilty and romance could turn out to be a very deadly affair.
