1848. This work is presented in a series of discourses as illustrating certain important points of doctrine in regard to the acts of Saint Mary Magdalene. These sermons were presented to the public with the hope they might promote the interests of piety and religion, and partly because Mr. Stretton was of the opinion that the delineation of so prominent a scriptural life as that of St. Mary Magdalene, especially when viewed in combination with the passages concerning the penitent woman of the city and the sister of Martha and Lazarus and so forming one consistent character, might be found both attractive and instructive.
