E-procurement has increasingly been applied by grocery supermarket chains around the world as a tool to reduce procurement costs and improve supply chain management to increase leverage and competitiveness. In Vietnam, however, little information is known as to what extent this method is used by supermarkets. Through random surveys of several leading supermarkets in Hanoi - one of the main economic hubs in Vietnam, the author explored the application of e-procurement in this fast growing retail market. The research also finds out what are the hinderance of applying e-procurement as well as solutions to improve this business method in supermarket management.
