Autorenporträt
Hi,I was Born in New Westminster, and grew up in Port Coquitlam (PoCo).When I was young, PoCo was a pretty small town.We used to run and play in the cow pastures (which no longer exist) that lined the road into town. It was a pretty idyllic place to grow up in the 60's and 70's.Never what you would call a good student, as I actually enjoyed more of the "class clown" role. My teachers described me more than once of, "Depriving other hard working students of their education". For that my fellow students, I apologize. My less than stellar school performance resulted in a wide variety of employment over the years: Construction, Van Customizer, Janitor, More Construction, until finally one day, I realized I did in fact want to go back to school to study as an "Engineering Technologist in Mechanical Engineering".After a few years of night school, I ended up in the field of Industrial Fluid Power, where I worked for the next 23 years or so.It was 2005 in my mid 40's when a hereditary kidney disease finally reared it's ugly head, resulting in 3 days per week of dialysis. In 2008 my future wife Felicity and I reunited. In 2009 we were married and Felicity saved my life by offering me one of her kidney's. It was that offer that resulted in tests that revealed I had developed Prostate Cancer. After a few years of dialysis and cancer treatment, it became apparent that commuting to work a couple hours per day, and then working in hydraulic systems for another 8 or so hours per day, would result in decreasing work performance, and general quality of health, and I had to "retire".So after drifting aimlessly for a few years, I ended up doing a few small art projects for my mother-in-law (of whom you will read of in one of my soon to be published stories). It was these projects and, Felicity and her mother's praise of "My Artistic Ability" that I once again began to delve into the arts. Having only drawn one drawing in art class that even remotely resembled the model posing, and the difficulty in completing the few projects, for Felicity's mother, I delved into the one thing I did kind of excel at in school...writing.A number of years ago, I had been working on a novel in my spare time, mostly while waiting for open tennis courts. I had completed the layouts and about 70% of the actual writing when to my horror I saw a commercial on TV for a soon to be released movie which matched my novel's story-line almost exactly. When I did see the movie it turned out to be not that great (IMHO), so maybe all turned out for the best. This however killed my creative spirit until a few years ago when I began writing little poems on my cell phone, during dialysis. The next thing I know is that one of these "poems" had become quite long, and that it would seem a waste of time if I did not develop this story to it's conclusion, and thus was born "The Adventures of Kylee the Rescue Dog".This is my life in a nutshell, but if you check back from time to time you will find more stories, as promised above. My Best Regards,KG Parsons
