The story deals with life changes, temporary loss & personal growth. It is written for elementary and early middle school age students & their grandparents, parents & other adults who care for them. Each of the 12 short chapters conclude with a suggestion for "doable" activities that young children can handle with adult supervision. The activities are focused on making life more sustainable for wildlife and humans: recipes for suet cakes for birds, participating in beach clean-ups, keeping a wildlife journal, growing a pollinator garden, etc.
