Julie, a passionate animal advocate, achieved her dream of founding a farm sanctuary in 2019. Alongside her husband, Gabriel, she established the nonprofit New Mexico Farm Sanctuary. From the outset, they faced a steep learning curve involving infrastructure, veterinary care, administration, funding, and managing growth-critical areas where expertise was scarce. They sought guidance from established sanctuaries, reaching out to successful organizations across the United States and Canada and finding mentors to help them navigate these challenges. Recognizing a significant gap in knowledge sharing among small rescue organizations, they founded the North America Farm Sanctuary Coalition. This initiative aims to connect sanctuaries, share valuable insights, and offer financial support where needed. Julie's dedication to animal welfare and her commitment to fostering collaboration make her a key advocate in the animal rescue community.
