Autorenporträt
Earl Derr Biggers wurde 1884 in Warren, Ohio, geboren. Nach dem Studium in Harvard arbeitete er als Journalist, Kolumnist und Dramatiker. 1913 gelang ihm der Durchbruch als Krimi-Autor. 1925 schuf Biggers den Seriendetektiv Charlie Chan, der nach Sherlock Holmes zum erfolgreichsten Film- und Fernsehdetektiv aller Zeiten wurde.
