AJ Cade is a retired United States Marine who earned two master's degrees and a Ph.D. in various aspects of American military history. Dr. Cade's specialty is the Civil War, and he has written dozens of articles and book chapters on the subaltern of the war, American society, and the transnational connections the war generated around the world. Dr. Cade is currently working as a military historian with the federal government, and he has given numerous lectures on the war and its importance to the American paradigm. AJ Cade is also the author of the award-winning book Your New Journey: How to Thrive in Graduate School as a Person of Color, available everywhere.
