JOHN SPENCER was born in Halifax, Yorkshire, in 1955, and read Modern History at Queen's College, Oxford. He has been a member of the American Civil War Society for 30 years, and has traveled widely in the USA in pursuit of his researches; his other interests include the research and replication of 18th and 19th century accoutrements. He is the curator of the Duke of Wellington's Regimental Museum. Adam Hook studied graphic design, and began his work as an illustrator in 1983. He specializes in detailed historical reconstructions, and has illustrated Osprey titles on the Aztecs, the Greeks, the American Civil War and the American Revolution. His work features in exhibitions and publications throughout the world.
