"The American Fly Fishing Experience portrays the life of Theodore Gordon who has been called the Father of American fly fishing. He lived from 1854 to 1915. The book will provide scenes from his personal life set in Savannah, Manhattan, and the Catskills. He fished in all these locales but is most closely associated with fly fishing for trout in the Catskills where he died. Though afflicted with tuberculosis, Gordon invented new trout flies still in use today and new methods for fishing them. He shielded all this information from the general public. My book lists his favorite flies and their dressings, his method of tying flies, and his method for finding which fly was most effective on any one day. He was the first prominent American angler to turn his back on British fly fishing prescriptions and start a more versatile angling tradition"--
