This book is an attempt to define the concept of metrical foot in acoustic terms. The foot constituent has been approached from various theoretical standpoints. Little attention, however, has been devoted to its empirical justification. Tomasz Ciszewski is an assistant professor at the Institute of English and American Studies at the University of Gdäsk. He graduated from the University of ¿ód¿ in 1994 and received his PhD in 2000. His research interests include English phonetics and phonology, metrical and government phonology, dialectology and English prosody.
