Set in 1980s Ireland this poetic novel of self-discovery is as comedic as it is tragic. Medical student Dylan can do many things. He can quote anatomy text books, ride a motorbike, drink until comatose and perform cosmetic surgery. The one thing he finds himself unable to do is ignore the Aoife effect. Aoife is all that Dylan's life isn't: unpredictable, wild and fun. But she has a past, and in trying to bury her ghosts Dylan nearly buries himself instead.

Autorenporträt
Eamonn Cooney joined the great Irish diaspora and pursued his career in Australia after graduating in Ireland in 1985. Now back living in Co Waterford he writes about those who didn't leave, including this account of his good friend Dylan's rise and fall. A personal tale, touchingly told, but with incisive insights into the appetites and impulses which ultimately drive us all.
