The Art of War, written by Sun Tzu more than 2,400 years ago, is a celebrated treatise on strategy of competition, decision, and leadership that has been widely studied and analyzed across diverse eras and cultures. However, despite the availability of numerous English translations, general readers may still find it challenging to fully grasp its concepts. To enhance accessibility to The Art of War, Dr. Gary has developed specialized generative AI models to help translate and clarify the original text. Having developed two advanced Athena Artificial Intelligence (AI) Large Language Models (LLMs), athena1s and athena2s, which focus on competitive strategy and leadership, Dr. Gary employs these Athena AI strategy LLMs to provide clearer translation and explanation of the original text by Sun Tzu. His translation of Sun Tzu's original work replaces the 1910 Giles translation. As a result, the book now includes the original Chinese text, Dr. Gary's translation, and explanation accompanied by knowledge graphs. These graphs were created with the assistance of the Athena AI strategy models for each of the 13 chapters by Sun Tzu. The knowledge graphs are designed to highlight strategic principles through visual cues, thereby enhancing readers' understanding of these concepts. For each chapter, applications from military, investment, and business practices are presented to elucidate Sun Tzu's principles. In Chapter 5, Dr. Gary examines practical applications of Sun Tzu's principle "Match by Capabilities, Win by Differentiators" (以正合, 以奇胜) with the Athena AI strategy LLMs. These AI strategy models help us to analyze: (1) Napoleon Bonaparte's strategic decisions during the Battle of Austerlitz in December 1805, and (2) how Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater Associates, has strategically constructed his investment portfolios to consistently outperform the market.
