Grover ends up marrying the nanny, but then the real birth mother returns and wants her son back. Grover has many fights in his life, including gaining the respect of his child, enduring blizzards, and living through cattle stampedes and wild animal attacks. As an old man looking back, he realizes that that he truly has lived the life of his dreams. Author Richard L. Fletcher is a retired controller. At 82, he has been married for 60 years. Fletcher began parachuting at age 60 and got his private pilot license when he was 69.
