He is also author of Kursk (Aberdeen, 2015), America's Modern Wars: Understanding Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam (Casemate, 2015), and War by Numbers: Understanding Conventional Combat (Potomac Books, 2017). He lives near Washington, DC.
