Pendred Noyce is a physician, advocate for science education reform, writer, publisher, and mother of five. She has helped run the Noyce Foundation, which supported improvements in mathematics and science education nationwide. She continues to advocate for exciting, hands-on afterschool programs in science and engineering. In 2010, Penny co-founded Tumblehome Learning to publish science adventure books and create associated science activities for children. She has written many books for young people and has edited and nurtured many more.
