Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic disease characterized by a histopathological appearance of common interstitial lung disease, and is the most common and most severe of the idiopathic diffuse interstitial lung diseases. To date, no treatment has been shown to improve survival in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Current treatments are based on the combination of corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, but their effectiveness remains debated. In this experimental work, we induced experimental pulmonary fibrosis by intra-tracheal injection of bleomycin (4.5 mg/kg) in two groups of rats. The first group or control group (10 rats) had no treatment, the second group or group treated with pistachio oil (20 rats) underwent daily gavage with pistachio oil (3.33ml/kg) for 30 days prior to the induction of fibrosis. At the end of the experimental protocol, all the rats were sacrificed and the fibrosed lungs underwent an anatomo-hitological and immunological analysis.
