Poet and priest are two I like to read, and both have surprises. Mörike the Caves of the Swabian Alb, Minor Westphalian halberds. It's clear, distinct, strong in taste like local ham. He invites everyone to the banquet, "those from the fences / those from the hedges". What is firmly built has an almost heraldic effect. In "allenthalben" there is suddenly the memory of half a horse and perhaps half the coat of St. Martin is meant. One day, someone leaves the house and considers taking his "five loaves and two fishes" with him for testamentary miracles. There are also more tender poems. In "Lisa" a wind blows the clouds until the rain is soft. A world of its own for the words that someone has and needs and that no one steals. There is a deep trust in the verses, in strange metaphors, even in very everyday things; this is rare among poets. This one is reliable and true. Joy Markert, November 2020
