It has been my privilege to know and work with Shirley Caldwell Oar, over a period of 40 years. She was a deaf interpreter at Grace Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana and University Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida in which I was the pastor. She also worked at Trinity Baptist College, as a deaf interpreter, where I was the college President. In addition, Shirley Caldwell Oar taught sign language, beginner and advanced classes at Maranatha Bible College where I was honored to be the Vice President of the college. Mrs. Oar was a very faithful worker in each endeavor. Dr. Charles Davis Shirley Oar has served the Lord through the local church for many years. Her passion for people, especially children, is evident in her book, The Birth that Changed the World. She writes with the heart of a teacher and the zeal of a soul winner who desires children to come to know Jesus Christ and to learn to follow Him.
