This is an interesting essay with several articles that were debated in the 1980s and 1990s as part of the political struggle of the black movement in Brazil. These articles comprise part of the debate in which black intellectuals took part, trying to reconstruct the image of black Brazilians from within. In the initial phase of the movement's revival (1979 - 2000), it was very important to discuss the images of black identity and what points in them would be interesting for the symbolism of the political struggle. The author was one of those active in this debate, alongside Joel Rufino dos Santos, Clovis Moura, Kabengele Munanga and many others. Wilson Gomes de Almeida. Specialist in African and Brazilian themes.
