Nascida em Novembro de 1989 em Dakar, Laïssa estudou inglês na Universidade Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar. Após a sua licenciatura, especializou-se em Literatura Americana e obteve o Mestrado2 em Artes na mesma Universidade em 2016. Laïssa está interessada na cultura afro-américana acima de todas as mulheres negras, no feminismo e na literatura.
