The Blue Room exposes family secrets that were supposed to stay behind closed doors. These secrets are hidden in the migration of life. This memoir reveals the culture of a southern African American family and their history. The reason for migration is always to seek a better way of life. If there is a better way to seek, often that also involves some adversity to overcome. The secrets behind those adversities are the motives bound in trials, guilt, and shame. This story includes issues of teen sex, pregnancy, unwed mothers, marriage, and adoptions. There was a time when unwed mothers and babies were simply hidden far away with other relatives. Truths do exist in plain sight, but moving doesn't really make them go away. There were also untimely marriages whether forced or not. It was the expectation that marriage would "make it right." Children were born and adopted into such cultures. How were they affected? It is the author's intention to emphasize how secrets impact not just one person but the whole family to the 2nd and 3rd generation. The mentality of keeping things in the dark doesn't solve anything. So, let's turn on the lights and expose the truth. God is healer and redeemer. He is the only one who makes everything right.Three generations are covered beginning in the great migration of the 1930's through the reverse migration in the 1970's and to the turn of the century. It is my desire to peak the depth of your spiritual soul's connection to our culture and history, to our connection with God and to our very present existence. This account of one family is not unique as 6 million people migrated to northern states from 1910 to 1970 and 41% returned south from 1975 to 1980.This written account gives one perspective that easily represents a multitude. Identifying with the migration of regions and times inspires readers in the trials of life into victorious living. To move forward we must face reality. Truth provides a breakthrough of purpose and destiny. Being able to release this memoir is monumental.
