Generally speaking, addressing the issue of defense and security is a challenge of unprecedented scope in the African context. This study is intended to be promising insofar as it reexamines the issue, particularly the threat posed by Boko Haram, an Islamist terrorist sect that emerged in the early 2000s in northeastern Nigeria and whose abuses have intensified since the early 2010s in most of the countries of the Lake Chad Basin Commission, including Cameroon, Chad and Nigeria. These countries have witnessed the rise in violence of this sect, which has contributed to jeopardize the peace of populations with its horrific and monstrous actions of its fighters who only know how to spread fear and desolation. In this context, the countries of the LCBC will only be able, in the medium or long term, to put an end to this nebula if they reappropriate an authentic security paradigm. Consequently, an objective and realistic review of the defense system and the relations between the countries of the LCBC and its multiple partners is necessary for the definitive eradication of the nebula.
