Originally from Sherman, Texas, Derwin Boyd began writing poetry when he was a teenager. As a member of his high school speech team, he won speech tournaments by reading his poetry. He has hosted Open Mics, taught poetry workshops, and was the former executive producer and host of the radio show The Gospel Express. Derwin studied Mass Communications at the University of California (Davis). He currently lives in Portland, OR.
