Autorenporträt
John Ross is Senior Fellow at Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (in Beijing). He was the first non-Chinese citizen to be made a full-time member of one of China's new Think Tanks. Chongyang Institute is one of the most influential Think Tanks/Research Institutes in China. He was appointed to this position at Chongyang Institute because of his almost 30 years of analysis of China and its relations to the international economy. This started with his 1992 article, originally published in Russian, 'Why the Economic Reform Succeeded in China and Will Fail in Russia and Eastern Europe' - the analysis of which is clear from the title. He is author of over 500 articles, including two bestselling books in Chinese, on China and its relations with the world economy. From 1992-2000 he lived in Moscow, where he attempted to persuade the Russian authorities to follow a China style economic reform instead of Western shock therapy. Before becoming employed in China John Ross was Director of Economic Policy for the Mayor of London during the period of Ken Livingstone. His analyses have been published in English, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Indonesian and Polish. Within China his work has been published in People's Daily, Global Times, on China Central Television, on China Radio International and other publications and media. He has over 1.1 million followers on Weibo - the Chinese equivalent of Twitter. John Ross is the winner of several state and private sector media prizes in China.
