Miguel Barron was living what he thought was the perfect life-married to the love of his life, with two healthy young boys, until his life took an unexpected turn. The Boxer's Corner is an intensely raw account of one man's struggle to save his wife from metastatic breast cancer. His account reveals with crushing sincerity the emotional and psychological pressures involved in being the caregiver-the "strong one"-for both his wife and his boys. From the shock of the initial diagnosis to his wife's ultimate passing, The Boxer's Corner exposes the loneliness and isolation felt by so many caregivers and so often underappreciated in the broader cancer-care and terminal-care communities. The author's story is one of love and devotion to an ailing wife and the two young boys who bore witness to the senseless cruelty of their mother's demise. It is also a wake-up call to industry professionals everywhere who deal directly with patients and caregivers, as the author exposes many of the shortcomings in both the process and communication involved in today's oncology and cancer-care treatments. The Boxer's Corner is an invaluable read for any person fighting to save a loved one or for any patient receiving the unbending love of a partner.
