Autorenporträt
Jim Howard was born on his family farm in the Amish country of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Having lost his father at age seven, he adopted a keen work ethic and enjoyed the interaction of all those around, from Amish families to tramps living at the local dump. He aspired to college, became a minister, and civil rights activist. As his life unfolded, he parlayed his interest in people of diverse cultures into work and consulting in organizational development in more than 30 countries. He worked as a corporate VP, as weak as founded his own consulting company. Always interested in people, he produced Legacy, a documentary that tells the story of small family businesses that struggle to thrive, from pueblo potters to dairy farmers to hardware-store owners. Jim continues to pursue his passions for bringing understanding among varied peoples, his love for hiking and the outdoors, and following a meaningful path into his retirement. In The Boy from Bird-in-Hand, he tells his life's story as a peacemaker, bridging differences among people of many cultures, in both words and more than eighty photographs. He divides his time between Santa Fe, N.M., and Peterborough, N.H.
