Apirana Taylor is a popular poet, novelist, playwright, actor, musician, and painter and the author of six volumes of poetry, including A Canoe in Mid Stream. He is of Maori and Pakeha descent, with affiliation to the Ngati Porou, Te Whanau-a-Apanui, and Ngati Ruanui tribes.
