Based on a true story; the time is December 1967. Four years of President Johnson's mishandling of the Vietnam War has frustrated the military and angered the nation. Now the Communists are preparing to launch a massive offensive that will change the course of the war. America is on the eve of one of the most turbulent years in its history. A young American fighter pilot, Lt. Tom Morgan, has the misfortune to be shot down at a major logistical intersection. The U.S. Command Authorities want to saturate the area with bombs, regardless of the consequences. The Communists will do whatever it takes to capture him. A group of dedicated airmen quickly forms to rescue Lt. Morgan and a desperate race against time is on. Back at home the wives of these airmen fight their own battles against a public that is rapidly becoming anti-military as well as anti-war. The Bridge at Ban Bak is the story of men fighting in a war that their own leaders seem intent upon losing. It is the story of their anger and frustration but in a larger sense it is the story of their courage, dedication, love, and hope. This is the war in Vietnam.
