Some of these are to be found in the conflict between religious feeling and the scientific spirit, between mysticism and rationalism. This book focuses on the interplay of romantic and gothic elements in the two most famous novels of Charlotte and Emily Bront : Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. Special attention is paid to the metamorphoses of the Byronic hero in those novels as well as to the presence of supernatural and gothic elements in them.

Natka Jankova, is an English language teacher in "Nikola Karev" high school and visiting lecturer at FON University. She has won an ERASMUS+ scholarship to write her M.A.dissertation at Wolverhampton University, UK.
