This work proposes to problematize the role of tourism in reorganizing the space of the municipality of São Luiz do Paraitinga, using its Carnaval de Marchinhas as the object of study. This work is justified by the concern caused by the loss of tourist attractiveness that the local intangible cultural heritage represents for São Luiz do Paraitinga after the flooding of the Paraitinga River in 2010. The main objective is to understand the main impacts and transformations generated by this hydrological and climatic phenomenon on the celebration and organization of the São Luiz do Paraitinga Carnival, taking into account its restructuring, based on an exploratory case study.
