Alyssa McClelland is a six-year-old African American author, born in Houma, LA. She is the author of "My Big Curly Fro," a book that teaches children about self-esteem, cultural and personal identification, and how to create stronger friendships. Alyssa's inspiration for publishing her book started from her own insecurities with her natural hair. She is determined to get over her low self-esteem, while encouraging others, including herself, to love themselves for who they are, beautiful. She wants her book to help other children who are facing various challenges in their lives. Her hobbies include playing with barbies and spending time with her family.
