This paper presents a report on the experience of the special education coordinator in the process of implementing the national special education policy from the perspective of inclusive education in the municipality of Ibipitanga/BA. The aim was to find out about existing difficulties and the need for preparation to promote the inclusion of students with disabilities in mainstream education. As a result, guaranteeing the quality expressed in the law has become a challenge that involves all sectors of Brazilian public education policy.
