Can you think of an illness that does not have a history, a story around it? There is practically none. Medical history taking is the first very important step to take as one strives to make a diagnosis of an illness. Medical practitioners at different stages of their training and practice need to be guided with their medical history taking and ECG interpretations. The budding clinical students (who just passed the Basic Medical Sciences examinations), the other undergraduate medical students, the Medical doctors in Residency training, primary care physicians and the specialists need to be at home with medical history taking. There is a dearth of published texts on medical history taking unlike the situation with Physical Examinations and Laboratory investigations/Imaging studies. This handbook is, therefore, an attempt to bridge that gap.
