This is Barbara Maitra's second collection of short stories written with the same wry observation as in her first collection. Coming from a family predominantly male - she has two sons and two grandsons - her stories mainly feature girls who overcome and win. She feels she understands them better. However, men are not ignored. Men from Mars can be as entertaining as women from Venus.

Autorenporträt
Barbara grew up and was educated in Sheffield, England. She married an Indian national and moved to India, where she lived for 15 years while also pursuing further education. She returned to the UK in 1970 and worked as a civil servant. On retirement, she was a volunteer in the education part of the National Trust at Chirk Castle for 10 years. In between, she did a five-year tour of places in Shropshire, delivering talks on Indian life. Barbara has a wry take on human behaviour which has produced this second set of short stories to entertain. The author has always written, paid or unpaid and has published a novel on India, as well as a mystery romance and two books of short stories. At almost 92 she continues her love with words and their power to expose the world to the reader. This habit of a 92-year lifetime, observing and writing about people, continues. After all there are 8 billion people on this earth. Way to go.
