Poetry. The first book by a poet who writes with steely passion about love and grief in the age of AIDS. The poems are simultaneously tender, outraged, sexy, darkly funny, and full of a sadness learned at close range. Donnelly handles difficult subjects with an openness of heart and clarity of intellect that allow him to transform what might have been sources of bitterness and fear into profound spiritual exploration.
