Jesus was born into this world during the time of the Roman emperor Caesar Augustus (January 27 bc to August 14 ad). He lived, ministered and was put to death during the reign of Roman emperor Caesar Tiberius (September 14 ad to March 37 ad). Jesus was born into part of the world governed by Herod the Great, a vassal king appointed by the emperor.
