Jürgen Brustkern is a German Fide Master, Bundesliga veteran, chess coach, and chess columnist. His love for Hastings originated in 1977 when he first played there, and has never left him. He lives in Berlin, Germany. Norbert Wallet is a German journalist and the Berlin bureau chief for the Stuttgarter Nachrichten and Stuttgarter Zeitung, covering politics and occasionally reporting about chess. Both authors play chess at the SC Freibauer Schöneberg chess club in Berlin.
