If you are a physician leader who wants a better grasp about how the money flows in healthcare, The Chief Medical Officer's Financial Primer: The Vital Handbook for Physician Executives will spell it all out for you. From where healthcare money starts to where it goes and to whom, you will get a comprehensive overview of how money is split up along the way. This book is the ultimate guide for physician leaders who want to understand the intricate financial dynamics of healthcare. Written by Lee Scheinbart, MD, CPE, FAAPL, a seasoned healthcare executive, this book is a must-read for any aspiring physician leader who wants to succeed in the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare. "Lee Scheinbart successfully integrates the new tools, new opportunities, and new challenges with the history and tradition of the old to give us a clear eye to the future - a future physician leaders must shape today," writes Stephen K. Klasko, MD, MBA, executive in residence, General Catalyst, former president and CEO of Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health, in the book's foreword. Using stories to illustrate the points, Scheinbart makes the text engaging while fostering critical thinking at every stage of an aspiring medical officer's career growth. One of the advantages of this book is that the chapters can be read in any order and it still imparts an understanding of the topic. It can be a useful guide or used as a refresher when encountering a particular topic in today's healthcare financial landscape. This practical book takes a currently overwhelming, if not muddled, picture of U.S. healthcare and provides the first step toward mastering its financial dynamics.

Autorenporträt
Lee Scheinbart, MD, CPA, FAAPL, earned his BS in biology at the University of Michigan and his MD from Ohio State University. He completed his internal medicine residency and hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Florida Shands Hospital. Scheinbart practiced hematology/oncology with Melbourne Internal Medicine Associates (MIMA) and Health First (HF) for over 20 years. During that time, he served on the MIMA Board of Directors and the Hospice of HF Board of Directors. A founder of the William Childs Hospice House and former medical director for the HF Cancer Institute, he went on to serve as vice president for medical affairs and later the chief medical officer at HF Hospitals, a division within the HF Integrated Delivery Network. Now semi-retired, Scheinbart serves as the chief health affairs officer and assistant professor of leadership development at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has a keen focus on physician leadership and its impact on organizational success. His writings and research have appeared in the Healthcare Administration Leadership & Management Journal (HALM) and the Physician Leadership Journal (PLJ), respectively. His writings also have appeared in several books dedicated to the chief medical officer, all of which have been published by AAPL. When he is not writing, researching, or speaking at national forums, he is mentoring aspiring physician executives or advising medical students. He is also an advisor for several healthtech startups, one of which is a patient navigation, advocacy, and support platform for those with chronic illness. When not engaged in those activities, you will find him fly fishing in parts unknown, cut off from most human contact.
