Jack L. Mauldin, M.D., has been a practicing physician in Birmingham, AL, for more than forty years. He has worked with medical students and residents in a teaching capacity and has had a private practice in Gastroenterology. His own life-long love of reading inspires his writing for children. As an author and physician, Dr. Mauldin works to encourage reading at a young age. "Reading with your children when they are very young, and encouraging them to read early can be one of the most powerful tools for greater learning," Dr. Mauldin says. His book, 'The Christmas Ant, ' was released in 2016, winning great reviews by parents, children, authors and publishers. The story was released in an easy-reader version in 2017, introducing new characters in the on-going children's book series. Besides the book series centered on, 'The Christmas Ant, ' Dr. Mauldin has a variety of other short stories to be released soon. Each centers on traditional themes of sharing, kindness and courage for young readers. Dr. Mauldin and his wife, Nancy, have two grown sons and two young grandchildren.
