This third volume of the series, published in 1893, includes two of Trollope's most beloved novels: ""Doctor Thorne"" and ""Framley Parsonage"".In ""Doctor Thorne"", readers follow the story of Mary Thorne, the illegitimate daughter of a wealthy man, as she navigates the social and romantic challenges of 19th-century England. Along the way, she must contend with the disapproval of society and the machinations of those who seek to exploit her situation for their own gain.In ""Framley Parsonage"", Trollope turns his attention to the lives of the clergy and their families in Barsetshire. The novel centers around Mark Robarts, a young vicar who becomes embroiled in a scandal involving a wealthy patron and his debts. As Mark struggles to maintain his reputation and his livelihood, he must also navigate the complicated relationships between the families in his parish.Throughout both novels, Trollope's keen eye for social commentary and his ability to create complex, nuanced characters make for a rich and engaging reading experience. Autorenporträt
Anthony Trollope (1815 - 1882) was an English novelist of the Victorian era. Among his best-known works is a series of novels collectively known as the Chronicles of Barsetshire, which revolves around the imaginary county of Barsetshire. He also wrote novels on political, social and gender issues and other topical matters. Trollope's literary reputation dipped somewhat during the last years of his life but he had regained the esteem of critics by the mid-20th century. Trollope began writing on the numerous long train trips around Ireland he had to take to carry out his postal duties. Setting very firm goals about how much he would write each day, he eventually became one of the most prolific writers of all time. He wrote his earliest novels while working as a Post Office inspector, occasionally dipping into the "lost-letter" box for ideas.
