Less church-going activity heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the church's lack of knowledge of what Jesus taught His disciples and yeshiva to do and to think during His three and a half years with them. The pressing questions of our day, including racial tensions, crime problems, the border crisis, and America's place in the international world are answered by what Jesus said to His disciples and to the religious elite of His day. His message as recorded by Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John is as apropos for today's challenges as it was in the first century. David Spencer captures: The timelessness and power of Jesus' thoughts, words, and actions to a stress-permeated world. The tension between Jesus' liberating message of love and servanthood versus the religious elite of his day bent on his destruction. The spiritual ignorance of his disciples and of the common-folk with whom he interacted. The life conferring effects upon his followers of his miracles and parables.

Autorenporträt
The author was trained at Oral Roberts University (B.A. and M.A. in Theology) and at Evangel University's Assembly of God Theological Seminary (D. Min.). He brings the unique perspective of a physician boarded in pediatrics (University of Oklahoma), dermatology (Ohio State University), cosmetic surgery and Mohs surgery (University of Arkansas), and metabolic and functional medicine (Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine) as he translates the time sensitive, chronologic narrative of the Gospels from the Greek into English and then rendered his meditative commentary on each chapter of Jesus' life. His work is unique with over 1,000 illustrations, maps, and charts sure to be a treasured source of information for scholars and students of the Word. He was also assisted by Caroline Lusk who contributed "Life Lessons" at the end of most chapters. These are contemporary applications of Christ's salient teachings.
